![]() Since you are mostly using your monitor for gaming and not professional design applications, I would suggest you look at features that are more suited for gaming. Maybe someone here has the LG and can report on the negative points i have seen in reviews. ° clicking/cackling noises: There seems to be the problem, that you can not switch off the integrated speakers entirely (only mute the output from your pc) and at least some people have reported clicking and similar noise that is audible in a quiet room. ° Backlight bleeding, but that seems to only occur to few people and is apparently not a general problem negative things i have seen in reviews (that concern me): native resolution not supported by all games (especially older ones), so i would have to live with black bars on the sides. The LG looks very nice because of the added screen real estate, but might have some drawbacks: Additionally i might be able to get it for only 400€ through "connections". It also has a solid stand is height-adjustable. I personally noticed a bit of shadowing at the lower edge, but it was very light and not really disruptive. The Dell i gifted recently to my brother and he is very satisfied. Long story short, these are the two main candidates for me now: Dell U2713HM for ~500€ LG 34UM95-P for ~800€ In the tests, the highest differences were still only about 1fps, which is negligible. But from what i have seen in tests, that only should have a minor impact on overall performance, as the speed of the GTX 770 itself is more limiting. ![]() Sadly i purchased that card shortly before i thought about getting a bigger monitor, because then i would have bought the 4GB version. especially since i had my eyes on the LG 34UM95 since i saw the review from Linus back in april.Īs you can see in my signature, my graphics card is a GTX 770 2GB, so i have to take this in consideration in regards to gaming. And as i only want to purchase one monitor, i am in a bit of a dilemma which one to get. This leaves me without a second monitor after i get a new one. But now there is a situation where my parents need a new monitor and instead of buying one i could just give them my "old" tft. Initially i would have just gotten a second monitor (most likely 27" 1440p as new main screen) and used my old one as a side screen. After I finish those, I may start playing more modern-ish games again, including the recent Prey, Mirror's Edge 2, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. For quite some time now i have been toying around with the idea of getting a new monitor, as my single 24" 1920x1200 is just a bit small and also slowly coming of age. The game was mediocre but the gunplay just felt so right. I've had a desire to revisit Rage 1 as well. It's almost a scary kind of parallel universe to today's political climate. Overall it was incredibly creative and still every bit as fun today. The game is still very pretty, although dated in some textures and models. Well, this playthrough quashed that memory. I made it to the second campaign of the second expansion (Armaggedon's Blade) before needing a mental break from the build up, explore, conquer repetition.īioshock Infinite 4.5/5 - I remember being a little annoyed (at the time of it's release) in how some of the common enemies were bullet sponges. It almost becomes a meta game to see how much better you can execute attacks. And if you install the HOMM3 HD patch, you can scum save/load battles to your hearts content. For me to give this game 4.25/5 means it ultimately did not live up to my expectations despite being a great game. It didn't help that some of the story was nonsensical, too. But, I think they just tried to do too much story, mixing the past with sci-fi and horror. I was absolutely terrified in many moments of the game. For the most part, it did not disappoint. I had very high expectations for Amensia Rebirth. I absolutely love all Frictional games - Penumbra 1, 2, and Requiem, Amensia: The Dark Descent, and SOMA. Travel back to Little Bighorn, the Civil War, both World Wars (including a nazi concentration camp) and pompeii to mow down helpless souls with futuristic weapons.Īmnesia: Rebirth 4.25/5 - Okay so this game isn't old. It was obviously a low budget game trying to be AAA. Graphics are still decent, but definitely showing a little age.ĭarkest of Days 3/5 for jank, 5/5 for creative satisfaction- Jank game with hardware physx effects. ![]() Combat was as repetitive as I remember, but the game had it's charm to keep me moving. I'll try to give Mirror's Edge 2 a full shake eventually.Īlan Wake 3.75/5 - Over the top, yet still high quality narration. I tried to play Mirror's Edge 2 but have been initially turned off by the semi-open world play style. ![]()
